Every day, thousands of Recruiters, like me, use the LinkedIn Recruiting Platform to look for candidates to fill the job in the hidden job market.
Is the hidden job market real or is it like the Easter Bunny?
It's real, I have many companies whom I recruit candidates for that refuses to post great positions. Why you may ask?
When they do post a position, hundreds maybe thousands, of people apply who are even remotely qualified for the position. Like Security Guards applying for SAP Date Security positions that get an email from an internet career site saying something like "Apply for this job it has the word security in it", and they apply with the same resume they apply to all jobs with.
Another reason is companies who are undergoing internal restructuring, don't want the current employees or the market place to know that they are looking for people to fill internal or new positions.
Some companies that are bolstering or improving a selected function - say sales, product management or numerous other positions, believe that they may lose some competitive advantage if they post the positions on the internet. So they use recruiters to search for candidates.
Either way, the best way to attract recruiters to you so that they will contact for the hidden jobs is to have an outstanding LinkedIn profile. That way when recruiters look for someone in your geographical area with your talents and skills, they find you and reach out to you. This is how you sell yourself to recruiters and get an inbound stream of job opportunities.
